The Treasures In The Waiting
We live our whole lives waiting. Waiting for the day where God's purpose will be fulfilled, where we'll see His promises come to pass in our lives, our dreams coming true, so when that day comes we can finally rejoice, be truly sincerely happy, and meet peace. That's the imagination going on in our minds everyday.
We live our whole lives waiting not for things, but to become.
"When I have that, I'll do this" "when I do that, I'll be this"
But in the meantime, in the space between, we decide to live miserably in frustration. So focused on what we're lacking and on tomorrow, we're blindfolded to every little miracle and daily blessing. From acknowledging God's presence whispering to us.
If my heart only knew this sooner, that the real treasure isn't actually hidden in the end of a journey, that the blessing isn't waiting for me in the future, the open door isn't that far away.
What really matters isn't the end of a race, it's how you get there. It's about the middle of the story, the struggle, the development, the seasons we tend to ignore and run away from, it's about the climb, not about what's waiting on the other side of it.
The greatest gift isn't found in Egypt, nor in the promised land, it's found in the way to get there. The parted sea can only be seen in the process, angels' food can only be found whilst you go through a wilderness.
We're missing so much when we don't realise God's greatest work is vividly happening today. In your imperfect broken self. In your long years of waiting.
The open door for our hearts' desire starts with God. The door is His presence. He'll show you that even though you're waiting on Him for a healing, for a breakthrough, for a miracle, for a promise: inner peace, joy, hope are for now, your happiness doesn't come from things or circumstances, and it's not rooted in your weakness, it's in a person, called Jesus.
What are you most grateful for today?
The only way out, is through.
