God doesn't give us Answers; He gives us a solution
Judges 6:12-17
When the angel of the Lord appeared to Gideon, he said, “The Lord is with you, mighty warrior.” “Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but if the Lord is with us, why has all this happened to us? Where are all his wonders that our ancestors told us about when they said, ‘Did not the Lord bring us up out of Egypt?’ But now the Lord has abandoned us and given us into the hand of Midian.”
The Lord turned to him and said, “Go in the strength you have and save Israel out of Midian’s hand. Am I not sending you?”
“Pardon me, my lord,” Gideon replied, “but how can I save Israel? My clan is the weakest in Manasseh, and I am the least in my family.”
The Lord answered, “I will be with you, and you will strike down all the Midianites, leaving none alive.”
Gideon replied, “If now I have found favor in your eyes, give me a sign that it is really you talking to me.
Let's be honest. There's a Gideon in all of us.
Gideon had his many questions about the situation and hardship they were facing and he was trying to put together the wonders God did in the past that he so heard about, and the present time of suffering they were facing. He placed those two together and his conclusion was: God has abandoned us.
Like all of us, Gideon wanted answers to his Why. Then Why did this happen, if You're with me?
But God didn't answer it. Because most of the time He doesn't answer our questions, He gives us a solution. He shows us a way. He changes the narrative and gives us a way to victory instead.
Because the solution is what matters. Knowing the why won't take us to victory, trust will. And God was so patient with Gideon, He answered his prayer showing him a sign that it was truly Him speaking to Gideon.
We don't have to be afraid to come to God and ask what we want to ask. He doesn't have a problem with our questions, but sometimes we're waiting for an answer when He's giving us the solution.
When we try to understand certain things that happen in our lives, we get stuck, we feel abandoned by God, because we don't understand. But as we can see in that passage, when God didn't answer his questions, is that what really matters is now. And how God is giving you the victory. He heard your cry for help. Don't stay stuck in your why, He's calling you forward, He's with you.
